Ready, Steady, Cook!
12 Nov 2018
We are really excited to announce the opening of Endeavour’s brand-new teaching kitchen at our Sheffield headquarters!
The kitchen features 8 cooking stations with hobs and ovens, plus an extra at the front for an instructor, and will be used to teach catering qualifications and independent living skills, as well as a space for catering social enterprise.
We will also be able to use the kitchen to host corporate volunteer days with a difference, cooking alongside our learners, and for future fundraising events such as the Great Endeavour Bake Off (watch this space!)
Patrick Callingham, Head of Education at Endeavour said: “The teaching kitchen will be really important to us for teaching skills for life to our learners and helping them get qualifications. It’s also the best looking room in the building!”
We are also running an online fundraising campaign to help us deliver sessions in the brand new kitchen, to cover the costs of food, specialist tutors and qualifications. As little as £5 will enable us to purchase ingredients for a healthy cooking session in the kitchen and if you would like to learn more or contribute, you will find more details here. All donations are greatly appreciated!
The kitchen was built thanks to grant funding from a variety of sources, including The DM Thomas Foundation for Young People, The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation, St James’s Place Foundation, YORHub 4 Good Fund, Tesco Bags of Help, The Co Op Local Community Fund, The Santander Discovery Foundation, The Company of Cutlers Charitable Trust, Gripple, The ENAble Community Fund, Leeds Building Society, Hilton Sheffield and The Bailey Thomas Foundation. Thank you to everyone involved!
