Charity of the Year Partnership with Sainsbury’s
15 Sep 2017
Back in July 2016, Endeavour won the public vote to become Local Charity Partner of 2016-17 for Sainsbury’s The Moor in Sheffield.
It was a new experience for Endeavour as this was our first ever charity of the year partnership in the 60 years we have been working with disadvantaged young people.
Over the last 12 months, we have worked together with Managers Claire Howard and Danny Skill and colleagues at the store on a variety of initiatives.
Highlights of the partnership included young people from BOOST South Yorkshire selling homemade Christmas gift bags in store, employability sessions and mock interviews with our Education Centre, meeting colleagues and customers at in-store fundraising events, and a team taking part in (and winning!) our first ever Team Triathlon Challenge.
Sainsbury’s were also kind enough to provide food and pay for catering costs for some of our events, and we receive the proceeds from the sales of all carrier bags in store over the year!
In total, the partnership raised just over £5,000, all of which will be used to support disadvantaged young people with programmes of personal development, education and social action.
Store Manager Claire Howard said of the partnership: “It’s been a great pleasure working with Endeavour. We are proud to have been able to support in making a difference within the community and wish them all the best for the future”.
Whilst we are sad the partnership must come to an end, we are delighted to have been chosen as the new Local Charity Partner for another Sainsbury’s store at Ecclesall Road. We look forward to meeting their colleagues and customers and getting involved in more of the same activities with our new partners.
