Vocational Skills Programme |
|
What is VSP Vocational Skills Programme. It is a programme aimed at young people who are struggling in school and works more on kinaesthetic learning and personal development. This is done mostly in an outdoor environment, using outdoor education as a basis for the students to learn about teamwork, effective communication, problem solving and life skills.
What is the programme? It is a 3 term programme, with a range of activities delivered once a week, throughout the academic year. The activities will cover a wide range of opportunities for the students to learn new skills, work with others, develop their existing skills and gain qualifications. The programme can also help the students with their academic studies at school, as it gives them a new found confidence, self esteem and a more positive attitude toward learning.
What will they get out of it? As well as life changing experiences, and a better understanding of personal boundaries and abilities, the young people will be able to work towards NCFE Entry Level Certificates in: • Working Together • Solving Problems
This is achieved in a classroom environment by reviewing the activities they have done and what they have learned from them. The written reviews are the evidence that form the portfolio for the NCFE Entry Level Units above.
