Programmes in the North-East

The North East team are based at the Southlands Centre Business Centre in Middlesbrough which provides the ideal base for their work across the North East.

The team have a well equipped office with space for private meetings and also a comfortable area for more informal appointments with young people.

The team also has an excellent storage space at the Southlands Centre to safely house outdoor equipment and provide secure parking for our minibuses and trailers.  The store has enough room to comfortably fit our new fleet of touring kayaks alongside our existing general purpose kayaks, the new arrivals mean that British Canoe Union awards can be easily incorporated into our projects providing more diverse personal development opportunities.  The awards can also be delivered as stand-alone courses for groups and individuals upon request, syllabuses are available to download from the BCU website:  http://www.bcu.org.uk/tests-and-awards/

The Southlands Centre is within easy reach of our training room at Beechwood Youth and Community Centre where we can deliver focussed information, advice and guidance sessions such as sexual health advice, drugs awareness and financial capability training.  Beechwood also has a sports hall which is an excellent space for team building initiatives and physical fitness sessions.

With the North York Moors on our doorstep, we have easy access to venues such as the Wainstones, Scugdale Crag for climbing and scrambling; and Errington woods, Faceby plantation and Carlton Bank for survival skills, walking and navigation - ideal for delivering the National Navigation Award Scheme.  More information on the National Navigation Award scheme including syllabuses can be found at: http://www.nnas.org.uk/
We also have access to various launch sites along the River Tees providing access to different grades of water and routes for kayaking and canoeing, enabling us to easily cater for different levels of ability.

A little further afield, accommodation in the Lake District is used for residentials.   This provides the perfect location for access to a great variety of venues enabling a diverse and intense programme including Ghyll scrambling, climbing, abseiling, mountain days and kayaking.
