Case Study: Hilton Sheffield

07 Aug 2018

Over the past 18 months, Hilton Sheffield has been one of Endeavour’s biggest supporters.

The relationship began after Endeavour received a grant for our teaching kitchen project from the DM Thomas Foundation for Young People, an organisation with which Hilton has very strong links.

DM Thomas put us in touch with the general manager of Hilton Sheffield and our Corporate Engagement Manager Graham Booth went to visit the hotel and meet their Blue Energy committee, which organises charitable activities.

Endeavour and Hilton Sheffield started working together on a number of career insight days with young people on Project BOOST – a National Lottery funded project working with young people with learning difficulties.

As part of Project BOOST, we like to take learners on a visit to a local company, and Hilton Sheffield have hosted several visits so far, giving young people a tour behind the scenes at the hotel, an insight into the Hilton Brand and values, and meeting colleagues in different roles, hearing all about working life at Hilton. Young people also had a go at tasks such as changing beds, ironing and making pizzas and cocktails.

Our learners obviously had an impact on staff at Sheffield Hilton as Endeavour were chosen by the hotel as recipients of some money raised at their Around the World in a Day challenge, raising over £700 which we are using to pay for equipment for the teaching kitchen to support young people in gaining qualifications for hospitality and tourism.

As if that wasn’t enough, staff from Hilton Sheffield then chose Endeavour as their partner for Hilton’s annual Global Week of Service, coming to Endeavour HQ for the day to volunteer in the garden and getting parts of the building ready for when learners return in September.

Gemma Joliffe, PA to the General Manager at Hilton Sheffield said: “The team at Hilton Sheffield have thoroughly enjoyed working even closer with Endeavour this year. Not only because of the great work they do with the learners but it also gives us as a hotel the chance to come together as a team and build relationships. We hope to continue our relationship with Endeavour.”

Graham Booth, Corporate Engagement Manager at Endeavour said: “It’s been a brilliant partnership with Hilton where they have got involved and supported in so many valuable ways, and we’re really looking forward to planning future activities with the hotel.”
