Virgin Media Make Connections with BOOST South Yorkshire

05 Jul 2017

Luke Mousley and Sacha Ashton, two Team Leaders at Virgin Media’s contact centre in Sheffield, approached Endeavour earlier this year as they were looking for a team-building volunteering day.

Graham Booth, Corporate Engagement Manager at Endeavour, set them up with their BOOST South Yorkshire project, a lottery-funded project working with young people with learning difficulties, for a day of team-building games and gardening.

The group started the day with some team-building games and a chance for the 13 volunteers to get to know participants on the BOOST project. In small groups, they took part in a challenge to see who could build the tallest structure from spaghetti and marshmallows.

They then moved in to the garden where we were blessed with glorious sunshine. Working alongside young people from BOOST, the group helped clear the front garden path of weeds as well as tidying up the teaching garden.

Karoline Wesson, one of the volunteers from Virgin Media said: “The young people that took part with our team were brilliant, fitted in well with our team members and we enjoyed working with them”.

We really enjoyed having the team from Virgin Media at Endeavour. Not only were they really helpful and hardworking, helping us achieve so much in the gardens here, it was also a brilliant opportunity for some of our young people to meet employees of a large company, learn about their jobs and help build confidence.
