Project Description The moving on up program works with NEET young people or young people at risk of becoming NEET. The young people will engage in a program that covers their personal fitness, independent living and employability skills. The program also works in partnership with other organisations, sharing best practice and building programs that are bespoke to the young people involved.
Funding Source Big Lottery Fund
Locations Redcar, Hartlepool and Stockton
Target Groups NEET's PreNEET's Young Offenders Schools Volunteers
Target Age Groups 14-25
Programme Format The programmes on the course run for 1 day a week for 6 weeks, other shorter engagement programmes have run for a full week.
Programme Content The programmes contain a number of outdoor activities; youth work type sessions based around personal issues, and residential experiences.
Aims and Objectives We have targets to work with 200 young people over the course of the year, 800 over the course of the 4 years of funding. Specific aims of the course are to improve access to fitness and activity, inform and support young people with independent living issues and improve and assist young people with their employability skills.
Planned Destinations The young people, who engage in the program, could be referred to other statutory, voluntary organisations. Mostly we help to re-engage young people before they become NEET out of one of our partner organisations.
Accreditation We are not obliged to, but we do run NNAS, BCU awards and John Muir awards.
