Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers became President of Endeavour in 2005. He is the
Lord Chief Justice and will become  President of the Supreme Court of the United
Kingdom in October 2009.

He is an active supporter of Endeavour, havingtwice taken part in our Canoe Challenge.

He has written about why he supports Endeavour:

As Lord Chief Justice I see everyday what happens to young people who do not have a firm foundation for their lives. It is critically important that we find ways of helping young people to develop respect for themselves and for others before they get tempted by bad company and bad example.
When I was asked to consider becoming your President and learnt what Endeavour does I said an enthusiastic yes. Endeavour is an organisation after my own heart and I look forward to taking part in some of Endeavour’s projects.
Endeavour opens challenges and opportunities to young people. Endeavour is about team-work, about leadership, about sharing, about achieving and about helping others to achieve.
To all of those who support Endeavour, I say keep at it. Tell your friends about Endeavour and get them involved. Thank you for all you’ve done and all that you’re going to do.
