Endeavour Training, an Educational Charity with over 55 years experience in working with disadvantaged young people, has moved its East Midlands operational offices to Beeston having been based in Leicester for several years. Based within premises at Oban House on Chilwell Road, Endeavour are delighted to be able to expand their work into the Nottinghamshire area.

 Working with young people aged between 11 and 24 years of age, Endeavour’s work aims at developing the Personal & Social Development Skills of youngsters who for whatever reason do not always succeed in ‘mainstream education’ or are in danger of dropping out of more traditional educational routes. Endeavour’s work embraces various disadvantaged, challenging client groups such as those not in education, employment or training (NEET), young people at risk of exclusion from school and young offenders.

Centred on ‘Experiential Learning’ techniques, Endeavour’s work has been successful over many years. ‘Challenging outdoor activities’ are used, such as canoeing, rock climbing, caving, mountain biking, archery and weaselling, to re engage the young person in learning and then to progress to the classroom to achieve both accredited and non accredited qualifications. ASDAN and NCFE accredited qualifications are delivered in ‘Personal Effectiveness’ which develops teamwork, motivation, leadership, communication and problem solving skills.

Links with other providers have meant that Endeavour has also been able to offer  young people ‘work tasters’ in fields such as construction, painting and decorating, catering, car maintenance, and IT.

During these ‘challenging times’ ‘Endeavour’ is pleased to be able to report that its work across the country, and in the East Midlands in particular, centred in Nottinghamshire, is making a real difference to the lives of our less fortunate young people, for their benefit and to the benefit of the communities in which they live.
