Performance Awards

The battle for the Elite Class trophy was extremely hard-fought between the two Bristol Endeavour teams with 'Red' winning by just 3 seconds, after more than 7 hours of paddling.

Land Instruments won the trophy for the fastest team in the Experienced Class and The 1st & 2nd Chesterfield Scouts were the fastest Novice Class team on the Endurance Event. Endeavour's own Volunteers team found the full Endurance course a bit too much in the windy conditions but battled hard throughout.

The fastest team on the Marathon+ Event was Tradeteam (Tinsley) who stormed to a very fast time, followed by Shorts Accountants, both teams in their Novice year.

Serco were next on the Marathon+ the fastest team in the Experienced Class, improving massively on their Novice time from last year. The H.M.Treasury team managed a creditable time, especially considering they had a kayak breakdown which cost them a lot of time waiting for a replacement boat.

TradeTeam (Glos) had a learning experience in their first year. They struggled in an unfamiliar kayak but their attitude and resilience did them great credit, enough to win them the coveted "Spirit of Endeavour" award for coping with adversity. I'm sure they'll already be training for next year!

Contribution and Sponsorship Awards

Frank Carson, of the Treasury  team scooped the Dick Allcock Award, awarded to the member of a new team making the greatest personal achievement, for his leadership and Anna Perkins (Volunteers) made of with the Scott Jermy award for the greatest comtribution to the success of the day. She had worked above and beyond the call of duty in the period leading up to the Challenge doing much invaluable administration work and then got into the Volunteers boat to make a big effort there.

The best effort in gaining sponsorship came from Shorts Accountants, who won awards for the largest Sponsorship pledge as a team (£2282.80)and also the best individual sponsorship effort, coming from Sharne Castle who raised £307 on her own.

Overall the event sponsorship pledges total £9199 - a great effort. Thanks to eveyone who contributed to the success of this year's event.
